3 Ways to help Prevent Jet Lag From Sabotaging Your Business Trip

Posted on: February 7th, 2017 by Corporate Transportation No Comments

jet lag

Traveling for business can be tricky when you are crossing multiple time zones. This can often result in jet lag. You may experience symptoms like poor concentration, fatigue, irritability, and insomnia. While jet lag can throw your game off, it doesn’t have to ruin your trip. You need to be rested and sharp for your business meetings, so here are a few tips to make sure jet lag doesn’t get the better of you.

Stay Hydrated

The air circulating in the cabin of a plane is often very dry. This can negatively impact your sinuses and skin, as well as dehydrating you. Dehydration can exacerbate jet lag. It is a good idea to drink about 8 ounces of water for every hour that you are in the air to help with staying hydrated. Consider bringing a small spray bottle of water for spritzing and moisturizing your face as well. Alcohol and caffeine can add to dehydration. Minimize your intake of both of these while flying is to decrease the affects of jet lag.

Nurture with Good Nutrition

You aren’t likely to get a good quality meal, if one at all, on the flight. Airline food can have preservatives and sodium that will compound your jet lag and may cause swelling in your legs when sitting for a long time. A smart thing to do is to pack your own food in your carry-on. Make use of zip-lock baggies. Pack them with fresh fruit and nuts. If the flight is particularly long, make a healthy wrap with fresh veggies and lean protein, or bring a salad that you have made and packed in a small plastic container. Eating a light, healthy meal, and avoiding processed food, will do wonders for your mood and digestion.

Arrange for Ground Transportation Ahead

Make plans ahead for car service in St. Louis to meet you at the airport. Dealing with luggage on public transportation can be stressful for both you and the people you will be traveling with on a bus or train. It is also time consuming, especially if you are tired and really want to get to your hotel. Treat yourself by taking a St. Louis luxury shuttle or limo that you have reserved and paid for in advance. Corporate transportation chauffeurs are trained to help get you and your belongings from the airport to your destination seamlessly. You can use the roomy and relaxing ride to decompress from the flight.

Jet lag is something that can’t be avoided when your internal clock is tinkered with. However, you can make it less disruptive to your sleep and productivity while traveling by being mindful of your body’s basic needs and by pampering yourself a little. By staying hydrated, eating well, and letting someone else worry about your ground transportation you may be one step ahead of jet lag.
