When talking art and culture, most people automatically focus on New York and Los Angeles. However, St. Louis, is rich in both areas. Here some great examples of the arts and culture in this city.

The Arts Scene

  • Pulitzer Arts Foundation – After getting a complete makeover, this foundation offers a wide range of events. The foundation hosted the Reset series last year that consisted of various drag queens doing runway shows, a nail art show, and a bamboo fort-building show.
  • Jazz St. Louis – This establishment went through a transformation at the tune of $10 million. For its debut, Wynton Marsalis was the grand opener. As the largest jazz institution in the entire country, you can always expect to see renowned acts here.
  • Grove on Vandeventer – Founded by Bruno David, this Grand Center gallery just opened its second location after a decade of success at its flagship location with projects focusing on female artists.
  • North City Gallery – North City proudly displays pieces of modern art. Within the near future, the owners hope to have a space where young artists can display work and offer free services.
  • Contemporary Art Museum – Due to support from the Gateway Foundation, you never pay admission to enjoy this museum. As the name implies, this museum is all about contemporary art.

The Cultural Experience

Beyond what St. Louis offers in art, theater, and music, St. Louis has incredible dining opportunities. No matter what sounds good at any given moment, you will have no problem finding a great place to eat.

A perfect example is Bixby. The menu changes according to the season, with everything on the menu spectacular. However, what makes Bixby’s unique is that cuisine reflects the culture of this Midwest City. This might include the History Museum or menu items from the American prohibition era.

Another outstanding restaurant that creates a menu based on cultural aspects is Panorama. Located in the St. Louis Art Museum, this restaurant features masterful creations made by Chef

Ivy Magruder. Along with fabulous food, Panorama offers an incredible view of Art Hill.

In addition to dining experiences, St. Louis’ other cultural opportunities include those listed below.

  • Missouri Botanical Gardens
  • Gateway Arch Riverboats
  • Repertory Theatre of St. Louis
