The first of our favorite St. Louis area wineries to visit is Chandler Hill Vineyards, located in Defiance, Missouri. Only a 40-minute drive from downtown St. Louis, this winery is worth visiting for the stunning landscapes alone. Imagine luscious green rolling hills from Tuscany but give it the spirit of Missouri and you’ll get a good idea of Chandler Hill.

Chandler Hill Vineyards offer different wine tasting options that you can enjoy in their Tasting Room or outside decking area. They often host live music and special events which are a perfect combination with their chardonnay and pinot noir grapes!

Little Hills Winery, St. Charles

Next up on our list of wineries to visit in St. Louis is the Little Hills Winery in St. Charles, Missouri. This a great pick for all foodies out there, as in addition to some lovely wines, the Little Hills Winery also boasts a superb restaurant.

The Adam Puchta Winery can be found an hour and a half’s drive west of St. Louis and is well worth the journey. The long history of this winery is almost as captivating as the wine itself! But we’ll let you discover their story yourselves, as the owners are always on hand to give visitors a warm welcome to the winery.

The Adam Putcha Winery is one of seven in the area that makes up the Hermann Trail. Combine a few of these vineyards together to create a tour that celebrates fantastic food and wine collaborations.

Hidden Lakes Winery, Aviston

The Hidden Lakes Winery is located just across the Illinois border in Aviston. Their irresistible wine and food tasting menus are just one of many reasons to pay a visit.

Their food menus include classic American favorites such as chicken wings and hush puppies, as well as artisan pizzas and paninis. Pair one of these with a glass from their Zuckerbach Vineyard and you’ll be in for a treat!

For those who are looking for a break from the city or a weekend away, the Hidden Lakes Winery also has ten cabins that can be rented. In addition, they can host parties, weddings, and help you to celebrate anniversaries on their beautiful property.

Chaumette Winery, Ste. Genevieve

Next on our list is the Chaumette Winery in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, just over one hour’s drive south of St. Louis. The Chaumette vineyards span 300 acres of beautiful scenery. In fact, there are two hiking trails you can complete to truly deserve that glass of wine at the end!

Wine tasting is available at the Bequette Ribault House, which can trace its history back to the times of French colonizers. Alongside their dry and sweet wines, the Chaumette Winery also features a pool, live music at the weekends, and their Grapevine Grill restaurant.

Villa Antonio Winery, Hillsboro

Hillsboro, Missouri’s Villa Antonio Winery is well known for its brewery in addition to its vineyards. Their winery takes the Northern Italian wine-making tradition while adding a little Missouri twist. The result is delicious vino rosa and seyval blanc wines, amongst many others.

Meanwhile, in the Sandy Valley Brewery, you’ll find an eclectic group of beers and ales, that combine American pilsner, malts, and different flavors and spices.

Add to this delicious wood-fired pizza and live music entertainment, and you can see why the Villa Antonio Winery is a favorite for many in the St. Louis area.

Augusta Winery, Augusta

Last on our list is the Augusta Winery, found in Augusta, Missouri. The Augusta Winery sits on special ground, as it is part of the Augusta American Viticulture Area – the very first of it’s kind to be recognized in the USA.

The entire process, from growing the grape to bottling the wine occurs in the Augusta area, and the result is some fantastic chambourcin and vignoles wines.

The Augusta Winery offers the opportunity for private tasting parties, but groups smaller than 10 are also welcome without reservations.
