Choosing a Venue in St. Louis

You’ve finally set the date. The day of your wedding is well on its way, and it is very likely that you might start feeling the pressure as you draw nearer to the big day. Planning a wedding is a giant undertaking. Remember, however, that you are not alone. Many brides get overwhelmed with wedding planning when they do not use the resources around them to help relieve some of the pressure. Do not forget that you have family and friends who will be willing and excited to be a part of planning your special day. You can also use the Internet and magazines to browse for elegant yet cost effective ideas for décor, dresses, and more. Lastly, do not underestimate the willingness of your partner to join in planning your wedding. Many brides assume that their grooms will not be interested in the details of wedding planning. However, there are tons of men who would happily join in to plan the event.

There Are Gorgeous Venues in Both Missouri and Illinois

The first step of planning your event once you’ve decided on a date is to find a venue. The fall season is coming up in just a few months. Autumn is one of the most popular wedding seasons as the weather is often very comfortable for outdoor weddings and the colors of the changing leaves provide a gorgeous backdrop. If you are planning a fall wedding and want to use the fall colors to their full advantage, you will be happy to know that there are dozens of gorgeous outdoor venues in the St. Louis area that provide stunning views of the changing trees along the hills of Missouri and the river bluffs of Illinois.

On the east side of the river is Pere Marquette Lodge in Grafton, Illinois. The lodge is located within the bluffs of Pere Marquette State Park. The park stretches 8,000 acres of forest land and runs along the Mississippi River. The thousands of trees surrounding the lodge are stunning in the fall and provide a gorgeous space to take pictures and host an outdoor event. When you book a wedding at the lodge, you can choose between hosting your event inside the Great Room in front of the gigantic fireplace or outside on the lawn. The advantage of hosting your event at Pere Marquette Lodge is that after the ceremony you can stay on location for the reception. Your guests can also stay the night in a private cottage or a hotel room without having to travel.

If you would like to book your wedding inside the city itself, you can still take advantage of nature. There are several spots within Forest Park that will provide a more local yet equally lovely outdoor venue. Popular locations in the park are Art Hill, The Jewel Box, The Boat House, and The Courses. Accommodation for your guests can be found just outside the park in the Central West End or the Delmar Loop.

Don’t Forget the Small Details

As soon as you find a venue and iron out some of the other large details, you will want to start planning the small details of your wedding. You still need to choose flowers, centerpieces, party favors, and more. When you are choosing flowers for a fall wedding, you should think about which flowers will readily available during the colder season. Mums and daisies are always a good option. They will be easy to find when the date of your wedding draws near and they will also match and compliment the color of the leaves.

Choosing flowers and a venue is only skimming the surface of your wedding plan. There are dozens of little details that you will need to choose within the upcoming months. Don’t forget that the Internet is full of advice and ideas that will prove to be very helpful. Websites like Pinterest have become havens for those planning major events. You can find tons of ideas to help you create the fall wedding of your dreams.
